OUR Preservation Program
At Redtri Basenjis, our vision is clear: preserve correct Basenji type while never compromising on health, temperament, or structure.
Our story began with foundation dogs Jax and Luna. Their daughters Rogue, Phoenix, and Storm became our first generation and established the standard we continue to build on today. From them, we have developed our second generation: Redtri-bred dogs that now carry our name into the show ring and the future of the breed.
Health Testing IS a Priority
With over 34 years of health testing behind our pedigrees. Every dog in our program is DNA screened by the OFA and is clear of Fanconi and PRA, with additional comprehensive health testing performed before breeding. Preservation means nothing without health, and our commitment is to produce dogs that are as sound in body as they are in type.
Temperament & Structure
Just as vital as health is a Basenji’s ability to live confidently and harmoniously in family life. Our focus on stable temperaments ensures puppies are affectionate, adaptable, and well-balanced. Structure is evaluated against the breed standard, prioritising balance, correct proportions, and effortless movement.
Puppy Upbringing
- Early socialisation, exposure to family life, and gentle handling from birth
- Raised with children, giving them the confidence to join family homes with ease
- Integration with our pack, with many puppies returning for visits as they grow, keeping them connected to the Redtri family
